1. Who operates this website
This website is operated by Software Ventures Pty Ltd (ABN 38 677 792 228, ACN 677 792 228), an Australian company. This policy applies to the corporate website at softwareventures.com.au and to emails sent to the contact addresses published on it.
Clan Labs is a separate Software Ventures product with its own service context and privacy arrangements. You can read the Clan Labs policy on the Clan Labs website.
2. Information we may handle
Technical and security information
Our hosting, content delivery and security services may automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device metadata, requested page, request time, network events and diagnostic information. This information is used to deliver and protect the website.
Cookie-free performance measurements
The production website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate traffic and page performance. Cloudflare describes this service as cookie-free and says it does not collect or use visitors' personal data for Web Analytics. It may collect page and performance timings needed to produce those measurements. See the Cloudflare Web Analytics documentation.
Information you send by email
If you email us, we may receive your name, email address, message, attachments and related delivery metadata. Please do not send sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request and you are comfortable providing it.
3. Why we use information
We may use information where reasonably necessary to:
- deliver, secure, maintain and diagnose the website;
- detect misuse, fraud or threats to our systems;
- understand aggregate website performance;
- respond to an email, privacy request or legal enquiry;
- keep appropriate business and compliance records; and
- meet legal obligations or exercise legal rights.
We do not use this corporate website for behavioural advertising, and we do not sell personal information.
4. Service providers and overseas processing
We may make information available to providers that support website hosting, content delivery, cyber security and business email. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, regulators, courts or law enforcement where authorised or required by law.
Some providers operate global infrastructure and may process technical or email information outside Australia. Network routing and provider locations can change, so it is not practicable to list every country in advance. We take reasonable steps appropriate to the information and service involved when selecting and managing providers.
5. Cookies and marketing
The Software Ventures application does not set advertising or marketing cookies and does not include a newsletter, contact form or advertising tracker. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage for its usage measurements. If these practices change, we will review and update this policy before enabling the new collection.
6. Retention and security
We aim to keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was handled, for security, or to meet legal and record-keeping requirements. Retention periods can differ between security logs, provider records and email correspondence.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards for the nature of the information we hold. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
7. Access, correction and complaints
You may ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access to it, or ask us to correct inaccurate information. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

We will review the matter and explain our response. If you remain dissatisfied and the Privacy Act applies, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

We may update this policy when our website, providers or information practices change. The date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
